“Manhood” – Thailand, 2008

giorgio-faedo-33” That’s what I think of when I see it: What I imagine real manhood, real strength, to be – Love.”

“Since 1984 the political instability in Myanmar resulted in thousands of people crossing into Thailand and settling in many refugees camps along the Thailand – Myanmar border. To prevent violence against children, and lead to less conflict within families and communities, the international community showed to parents alternatives techniques that can be used to communicate with their children and discipline them without the use of violence. In this picture a grandfather and his grandchild in one of the refugee camps.”

” peace for the time being” – Bukavu, Republic Democratic of Congo, 2011

giorgio-faedo-32“She seems quietly content watching her baby sleep soundly. It’s hard to say what preceded the picture or what will follow, but it’s clear that the two of them are at peace as the only people in the room and for the time being.”
